Planning a Last Minute Move

Planning a Last Minute Move

Life can be unpredictable at times. Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation where we need to move on short notice. Whether it’s due to an emergency, a job relocation, or an unplanned change in your life, a sudden move can be overwhelmingly stressful.

Take a deep breath and let’s navigate this together.

Here are some practical tips to handle this last-minute move:

  1. Create a plan which includes a budget and timeline
  • Set a budget. If your budget is larger, consider hiring packers to help ease the load. If your budget is smaller, consider moving some or all of your items yourself.
  • Create a timeline and try to stick with it, as much as possible. With that being said, give yourself grace and allow yourself the adjust the plan/dates accordingly.

2. Get professional help if possible

In whatever capacity you can afford. Professional movers like ours, will help reduce stress, get the job done quicker than if you were to do it yourself, and have the expertise to pack and transport your items safely.

Contact us for same day/next day/ last minute moves. We will do our best to accommodate you and ease your load.

3. Ask friends and family for help

If you have friends and family nearby now is the time to lean on them. Ask them to help you pack, watch your children/pets, etc. Support during stressful times can go a long way!

4. Pack wisely

Try to pack in an orderly fashion. Pack one room at a time. This will make the packing process feel more manageable and you more in control. If you go room to room and pack random boxes you will feel less in control and more chaotic. Don’t forget to label your boxes!

5. Arrange temporary storage if you need an interim solution for your belongings

Ask one of our friendly customer service representatives for more information on storage services.

6. Utilities and Change of Address

Amongst all the chaos, don’t forget the following important updates:

  • Contact your utility providers (electricity, water, gas, internet, etc) to cancel or transfer services.
  • Update your address with the post office, banks, credit cards, subscriptions, etc.

Following the steps above will help ease the stress and anxiety regarding your last minute move. And before you know it, you’ll be settled in your new home and this will be a distant memory. In the meantime, try to take deep breaths 🙂
